What is SCENE IT! New York?
SCENE IT! New York is a Musical Theater competition featuring 10 of the best scenes from New Musicals written by aspiring composers; lyricists and librettists. The spirit of the competition is to foster the growth of new talent by providing an opportunity for industry insiders as well as the general public the chance to see and hear what the voices of tomorrow have to say.

About the Competition:
12 Scenes will be chosen as Semi-Finalist. 10 of those Scenes selected will be adjudicated by a panel of celebrity judges in a one night only competition. One winner will be chosen to receive a monetary grant to assist in the further development of their project. All participants will receive their adjudicated forms at the conclusion of the event. |

Primary Objectives:
- To encourage aspiring writers; composers and lyricists to create new productions for the musical theater by offering the chance for their works to appear in a public showcase.
- To offer younger, developing talent the chance to become familiar and associated with seasoned industry professionals, and vice-verse.
- To invent the possibility that SCENE IT! New York will become an annual event that will bring support and encouragement to writers, offering them a rare and unique opportunity to have their efforts seen and acknowledged.
- To promote the creativity of new musicals that will find their way to a full production. New productions that speak to a new generation and help advance the unique art form of the American theater.
- To stimulate appreciation and interest in what the next generation of writers have to offer.
- To provide a glimpse of what might be possible if producers abandoned the 'tried and true' and became enrolled in the production of the 'new and inspired'.
